Members News

Sailing members, in particular, may find this interesting.
At the Southampton Boat Show this year, one little boat caught my eye through the ever expanding ranks of squeaky new motorcruisers and dazzling white GRP yachts.
The rest of the story is here http://www.rya.org.uk/General/Features/lowcarbon

Rowing could be good for you
Our News

Watchet Sea Rowing Club was established in 2002 with the aim of promoting sea rowing as a recreational sport, offering people the opportunity to row in the Bristol Channel and improve their health and fitness.
We have four boats, two French class coxed-4 sea rowing boats with sliding seats (Quiver and Fantasy) specifically suited to the Bristol Channel sea conditions, our first club built, coxed-2 boat, Frolic, which is now a training boat and our newest boat Sarah Pilkington. This boat is unique since it is a traditional Celtic Longboat but the Club has worked with the manufacturers and developed a sliding seat version.

We offer rowing throughout the year subject to tide times, sea and weather conditions. So if you fancy having a go at this fun activity please contact Lesley on 01984 634225 for further details, or visit www.watchetsearowing.co.uk/

Trivia
The candiru is a tiny fish found in South American rivers. Drawn to warmth, it is known to follow a stream of urine to its source, swim inside the body and flare its barbed fins. Until surgically removed, it will remain embedded in the flesh.
